Yaya's Castle.....

I have received SO MANY emails asking me how the redesigning of our home is going? So, let's bring you up-to-date: (For those that don't know, my home has always been very "rustic" and now I have decided to bring a bit more Denmark look to it with still a mix of the rustic for my Texan hubby.)

It has taken all this time (over 2 months) to get our new cast iron sink in, so that we could then get my beeeeuuuutiful counter tops installed. (the first sink broke in shipment and then it had to go back and redo me a new one.) Welcome to the world of "custom". :)

Anyway, I still have a "few things" I need to do as far as the "nesting" part for the kitchen, but the breakfast/TV area only needs me to hang my dark chocolate linen tap curtains and it will be finished! So, here is where I am as of today:

Our Breakfast/TV nook:

(Beau...our Maltese puppy...as taken residence here on the couch!)

The beaded curtains are faux cream PEARLS!!! LOVE them....

Had to have a relaxing place to pay the bills! The tile work in the cabinets were designed by me and put in place by another tile artist friend of mine! I then framed them out with some old picture frames....

Love lighting this candelabra at dinner!

The kitchen....

The center island you see is an antique fossil stone from Israel...VERY old! There were only 3 in Houston and I took them. Fortunately I have a great contractor that I have worked with for over 23 years....and he was able to have his crew put this all together in pieces, since there wasn't a large enough piece to make the entire island. Wait until you see what I had done with the scraps!

You can't really see my beautiful counter tops....but, they are NOT GRANITE (because I wanted something new on the market to try)!!!! They are a new style of acrylic!!! They can take a beating and keep on ticking....they are a "matte" finish with bits of chocolate color swirled throughout. I LOVE them!!!! That metal board you see is actually my "menu board" but, I have yet to put any magnets on it...a part of my "still nesting" I need to do.

I promise that as I complete this part of our "castle" I will post...not sure when that will be, but I hope that it will be by next spring so that I can then move into another part of the house! :)

And last but not least....you can also see what "nesting" projects I am doing in my home studio...here.

Until next time...xo...deb
